Thanksgiving

Is an annual, national holiday created by the human species.
Although this holiday's purpose is supposedly to give thanks,
humans have also injected into it the monumental and horrific injustice
of breeding, executing, dismembering, eating
tens of millions of victims, tens of millions of turkeys.

This is wrong.

Please, let's stop participating in
committing these unjust and henious atrocities
against these beautiful birds.

Vegan, please!
For all persons of other land and sea species.

Around this time of year, you'll hear a lot about turkeys
who were raised “responsibly”
by “farmers” who really “love their animals".
This is all meaningless to those we victimize,
whether in slaughterhouses or “humanely”.
All the "humane" words
serve only to distract us
from the unavoidable injustice we impose
on innocent and defenseless animals,
for no other reason
than to celebrate our “gratitude”
— gratitude poisoned by domination and violence.

Vegan, please! For all persons of other land and sea species.

"We stand in the presence of their vibrant minds,
we come face to face with the undeniable expressions of their gentle souls,
and instead of reaching out in recognition and in wonder,
we dismiss them as nonpersons,
we exclude them from the moral community,
we deem them unworthy of life,
we erase them from existence,
we butcher, burn, bite their desecrated remains,
and flush them as sewage."

Disclaimer:
We hope that names given to vegan and plant-based foods
will stop using the language and symbolism of
animal exploitation and execution.
We can surely think of more creative culinary names
that don't invoke and symbolically perpetuate
the injustice of using persons
of other land and sea species
as "products".
